TikTok Shop INFORM Act re-verification: what to submit and what to skip
The INFORM Consumers Act now requires annual re-verification of every TikTok Shop seller. Here is what TikTok actually checks and the documents that move re-verification from failed to approved.
The INFORM Consumers Act (15 U.S.C. § 45f) became fully enforceable in 2024, and TikTok Shop now performs annual re-verification of every high-volume seller. If your shop suddenly shows "Verification expired" or "Re-verification required," you have a tight window to submit the right documents before TikTok pauses your storefront.
What TikTok actually requires under INFORM
The statute itself requires marketplaces to verify five data points for every high-volume third-party seller:
1. Bank account information — used to receive payouts 2. Business tax identification number — EIN (US) or equivalent 3. Working email and phone 4. Government-issued identification for the responsible person 5. Business address with proof
The documents that pass on the first try
| Data point | What works |
|---|---|
| Bank account | Recent bank statement (last 30 days) with name + account number visible |
| Tax ID (US) | IRS EIN confirmation letter (Form CP 575) OR a Schedule C from your most recent return |
| Email + phone | A live email reply within 48h from a domain matching your business is the gold standard; a phone number that answers also helps |
| Government ID | Passport, driver license, or state ID — must match the name on the bank statement |
| Business address | Utility bill, lease, or registered-agent letter from the last 90 days |
What gets rejected
- Bank statements older than 90 days
- IDs that have expired
- ITIN-only filings without an EIN (TikTok now requires EIN for US sellers above the high-volume threshold)
- Addresses that don't match the bank account
- Voided checks instead of statements
What to do if your re-verification fails
The verification failure shows up as a violation in Seller Center. You have a 7-day window to submit corrected documents through the appeal form.
Open the appeal with this exact framing: "We are submitting corrected documentation in response to the INFORM Act re-verification request dated [date]. The five data points are enumerated below..."
Then list each data point with the specific document attached.
Never submit a single PDF labeled "documents" — TikTok's reviewers need each data point separately tagged.
AppealShop generates the INFORM Act re-verification appeal letter for your specific case in 5 minutes. We also flag which of your documents will likely fail review (e.g., expired ID) before you submit. $19.
